Get Involved

There are lots of ways to get ‘involved’ and raise money – one of the most important things to remember is that it should be fun! You can organise your own event from a dinner party to a ball, sporting activity or challenge event. You can take part in one of our fundraising events or take a look at our ideas below for some inspiration.

As a company

Companies can make an invaluable difference to the Trust in a variety of ways, whether it’s choosing the Trust as your Charity of the Year or developing a long term charity partnership, making a one-off donation, offering expertise, or providing a team of staff to help out with events taking place for the Trust; the opportunities are endless.

Working with us at any level can help you to meet your corporate social responsibility (CSR) aims but there areparticular benefits as working with the Trust can be hugely rewarding for all involved;
improving staff morale and helping with team building while showing the company to be giving something back to the community, and often generating positive publicity.

Whatever your company’s interest in supporting us, we would be delighted to work with you – together we can continue to improve the support available to children and their families battling with cancer.

“Working for Nationwide Building Society, gives my colleagues and I the chance to pick a local charity to support in any way we see possible. We have now worked with The Joe Glover Trust for over a year and it has been such an incredibly rewarding 12 months.

My branch and 8 other local branches around the Southampton area have been given all the information we need by the trust to go out and fundraise and volunteer for them. Over the year we have had numerous cake sales, book sales, raffles and more!

Jane from the trust works tirelessly to always keep us informed of ways to get involved and lets us know how our fundraising is helping. The information she gives us, to go out and do our own thing has been extremely beneficial. All our customers love to get involved and we love seeing the name of the trust grow so we can help more and more people.

Working alongside Jane and The Joe Glover Trust, is the most incredible experience. Jane goes out of her way to help us with new ideas of how to fundraise and she always makes us feel so valued. Jane visits us regularly and helps us realise even more on each visit, what a worthwhile cause this is.

We can’t wait to help build the profile of the trust even more.”– Nationwide

“The Joe Glover Trust is such an important charity, improving the situation for families and children going through a difficult time due to illness. Basepoint has supported the charity since April 2015 and match funded a total of £10,000 in the first year. We continue to support them in the same way this year and wish them great success in achieving their fundraising goals for the families and children affected by cancer. I have worked closely with the Fundraising Manager, Jane Wilmshurst and find her passionate and hard working to ensure the goals of the charity are met. They arrange and oversee a wide range of fundraising events, such as bike challenges, fayres and shows. I look forward to continuing to offer our support and match funding as the year progresses.Trethowans

Collect your loose change
Each penny and pound donated really does help. By putting aside your loose change when you empty your pockets at night, after you have been shopping or when you are de-cluttering your purse, you could save up a donation for the Trust and not even notice the difference. We have collection tins waiting to be filled and would be delighted to let you have one to get you started. When the box is full all you have to do is count up the money, pay it into our bank account or send a cheque to:

If each of our supporters committed to filling one small change box a year – just think what a difference that would make. Collection boxes not only help us raise vital funds, they also create awareness of our important work. Your small change can make a real difference. If you would like one fro your workplace, local pub, shop or favourite restaurant, please do get in touch.

As a group

Are you part of a Brownie pack, Scout group, Church social committee, Women’s Institute, Sports or Golf club? Would you like to learn more about how your group can support your local children’s cancer charity, and the fantastic work we do?

We would love to hear from you, to arrange for one of our Charity team to come and meet your group. We can help you arrange coffee mornings, fetes, raffle evenings and loads more. The most important thing is you’ll have loads of fun!

Fundraising can provide a great sense of achievement. We know you’ll have lots of laughs and plenty to talk about on Facebook! Don’t forget we also have our own latest events that you can take part in.

As a school/college

Holding an event at your school is a fantastic way to get staff and pupils talking about how we support children and young people. You could hold a talent show, cake sale or fund-raise by recycling. From fashion shows to Free Dress days, fundraising for us is a great way to raise awareness of the work we do. How about an Easter Egg Design Competition or a Santa Fun Run?

You can help us by:

  • Volunteering your skills – maybe you are a whizz at graphic design and can help us with posters and marketing
  • Volunteering your time – we run many events throughout the year and need volunteers to help with bucket collections and manning our stall for a few hours.

If you would like to help and could spare a few hours for a worthwhile cause, or if you think you have any expertise or resources you think would benefit the Trust, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please do get in touch via our Contact Us page.
